Our choir committee works tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the choir. From managing finances and organising events to coordinating music and supporting members, each role contributes to creating a well-structured and enjoyable experience. We are an inclusive group that welcomes all members to get involved, whether through leadership, planning, or simply sharing ideas. Together, we strive to foster a welcoming and vibrant musical community where everyone has a voice and can contribute to the choir’s success!
CHAIR - I'm Jane and I joined Five Valleys Voices in 2014.  I love the range of music we cover: from a bespoke Mass to The Spice Girls; from folk to funk and beyond. The broad repertoire reflects the breadth and talents and personalities within the choir!  Our common aim is to make the best music we can, and have fun along the way.  Ultra friendly and supportive, Monday night gets to be best night of the week !
TREASURER - Hi, I'm June.  I joined the choir back in 2014.  Five Valleys Voices is a wonderful community choir and I have made so many friends over the years.  Being part of that community has been inspiring, relaxing, challenging, enjoyable and fun.  Lottie,  our MD and Emma, our pianist, are a double act that would be hard to beat in any choir!  I just love being part of the choir and singing every week with such a wonderful group of people.
Helen - Alto, Membership Secretary and Librarian - I joined the choir in 2023. My musical background is orchestral and although I am musically trained I hadn't sung in a choir since I left school.  I went to a FVV concert and it just made me want to be a part of this fun, varied and exciting group.  I wish I'd joined sooner!  We sing a whole range of songs including pop arrangements, different language songs, well known movie songs as well as more classical arrangements.  It is often hard work but always fun and I love every minute of our choir rehearsals, performances and socials.  The choir group is so important to me and I have made many new friends.
Christina, Soprano and Fundraising - I joined 5VV in 2018 when I moved from another more formal choral society and immediately felt very welcome.  The music we sing is diverse and challenging, but we have a great time learning the pieces so nothing ever feels impossible.  As a member of the committee I am involved in co-ordinating the refreshments at our concerts and have also been involved in organising some fun social/fundraising activities for the choir such as a Dinner with Cabaret last summer and a Quiz and Ploughman's supper earlier this year which were both fun and helped to boost the choir coffers (as we save towards a sound system for our concerts).
Costume Mistress, Alto - Hi, I'm Joy and I've been a member of the fabulous Five Valleys Voices since the first term way back in 2013.  Before that, the last time I sang in a choir was when I was 11 and in primary school.  I've never been especially musical and have to work hard at learning the parts for the concerts, but that is all part of the enjoyment and satisfaction you get from being in this wonderful choir.  The added bonus, that I hadn't expected when I joined is the the great sense of camaraderie amongst members.

Lottie Osman, Conductor - I founded the Five Valleys Voices in 2013, and it has bought me such joy over the years.  I love conducting - and when I say love - I mean LOVE conducting and teaching.  I first conducted a production of 'Half a Sixpence' at the age of 16 and haven't looked back.  I was heavily influenced by the musical and choral traditions of the Eisteddfods, having lived there for the first years of my life.  Conducting the amazing choristers of the Five Valleys Voices has been a joy for me.  I get to challenge them with a variety of easy and complex pieces in all sorts of styles, blending traditional repertoire with contemporary songs.  And they never fail to amaze me and get better and better.  On top of that I work with Emma, our amazing accompanist.  She reads my mind and it is such an honour to work with someone with a similar approach to music and with the nuances and depth in her musicality that is an honour to be part of.

In addition to conducting, I have taught privately and I compose.  I've written and arranged quite a few pieces for the choir and performed them - which is so much fun.
